South relying on juniors

WEST ALEXANDRIA — With a solid group of juniors, Twin Valley South golf coach Darcy Robinson said her team will be looking to surprise teams this year.

“I think we are going to surprise some teams, especially in the CCC. We were able to get a couple of guys back out for the team this year that didn’t play last year, so we’ve got a real solid group of juniors (Nathan Osborn, Willie Bowman, Chance Parks, Jayden Bassler and Connor Bradley),” Robinson said. “Cole Petersen returns as a sophomore, then Luke Petersen, Steve Bitner and Ben Bitner are our new freshmen. Chance and Connor are much improved. Chance took lessons over the off-season and has put in a lot of hours to get himself to this place. I’m very proud of his efforts,”

The Panthers will be lead by Osborn.

“As he has been growing and developing this past year, he just keeps getting stronger and stronger. He’s hitting the ball so much farther than last year, and he hasn’t lost any control with that extra distance. I’m anxious to see what kind of numbers he will post throughout the season,” Robinson said.

Robinson said this group is hard working with a lot of upside/

“All the guys have great attitudes and are working hard, excited to get things rolling,” she said. “So am I.”

South finished second at the county tournament last week, with Osborn winning the individual title.

The Panthers were scheduled to play Versailles on Monday, Aug. 14 and Dixie on Tuesday. South will travel to National Trail on Thursday and host Franklin-Monroe on Saturday. South’s home matches are played at the Eaton Country Club.
