ECC Ladies tourney fighting breast cancer

EATON — The Eaton Country Club Ladies Golf Association hosted a breast cancer awareness tournament on July 26 and July 29.

For several years, the association has raised funds for a national breast cancer organizations, but decided this year the group wanted to benefit those living closest to home, right in Preble County.

In order for the contribution to have a greater impact the ladies of the ECC Golf League volunteered their time and efforts to maximize donation and also keep expenses to a minimum.

The Preble County Medical Center and the Grandview Foundation agreed to partner with the group so the money raised would provide mammograms for those under-served women in Preble County. The Grandview Foundation graciously offered to match whatever the tournament raised , which translated into twice as many women benefiting from the effort.

To date, with the money raised from the tournament and provided by sponsors, along with the matching funds from the Grandview Foundation, the ECC Ladies Golf Association, made up of 13 women, was able to provide approximately 50 mammograms to help women in Preble County live healthier lives.

The mammograms will be given during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, at the Preble County Medical Center.

The ladies league was also able to provide four “comfort baskets” for women currently battling breast cancer with the help of donations from local businesses.

The ECC Ladies Golf Association thanks all who participated in the tournament, and all the generous businesses and sponsors — all are helping change lives here in Preble County.
