BROOKVILLE — Twin Valley South competed in the Brookville Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The boys put in an eighth place finish on the day, while girl runners Madison Wright and Megan Wright finished first and second, respectively. The girls team only had four runner compete, so they did not compete as a team at the invitational.

On the boys side, Brendon Gallaher was the Panthers fastest runner, completing the race in a time of 18 minutes, 49 seconds. Matt Hemmelgarn was close behind, finishing the race in 24th place with a time of 19:02. Rounding out the top five for South was Andrew McGuire, who finished 29th with a time of 19:15, Brandan Wright, finishing 47th with a time of 20:17, and Chris French, finishing 85th with a time of 22:27.

Also running for TVS was Curtis Hittle with a time of 26:19 and Jack Weaver with a time of 27:08.

On the girls end, Madison Wright won the Invite with a time of 19:20 while Megan Wright closed out the race with a time of 20:31 to take the second spot. Grace Stewart was 25th on the day with a time of 23:11 and Kaitlin Overholts finished 67th in 30:47.

“Not a bad day for (us),” said TVS head coach Richie Faber. “We had 12 individuals set personal bests and one other run a season best. The one-two finish in the varsity girls race by the Wrights’ was outstanding. Things are going in a good direction right now.”

South will run in the Eaton Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19 before running in the Preble County Meet at Fort St. Clair, in Eaton, on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
