CAMDEN — Preble Shawnee’s girls tennis team met up with two of the Dayton Areas top teams last week and came away with a split.

Shawnee lost to The Miami Valley School (4-1) and beat Tippecanoe (3-2).

“MVS is the number four ranked team in the Miami Valley and they are solid from top to bottom,” Shawnee coach Dave Hubbard said. “We competed very well with them tonight but just were not able to get it done. Michelle Bulach played her best match of the year, winning in straight sets against a tough player. I couldn’t be more proud of Michelle and the improvements she has made so far. Alivia Reek played a marathon match that went right at three hours. She gave a tremendous effort and fought hard until the last ball”

At first singles, Olivia Schrager (MVS) defeated Ashlyn Hubbard (PS) 6-1, 6-3. At second singles, Eleanor Liu (MVS) defeated Alivia Reek (PS) 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. At third singles, Michelle Bulach (PS) beat Shraya Sandhir (MVS) 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles play, Janine Quigley/Vennela Vallabhanani (MVS) beat Jane Feck/Lauren Smith (PS) 6-0, 6-0 and Vivi Treese/Gabby Shaw (MVS) defeated Zoey Collins/Shay Neal (PS) 6-2, 6-1.

Against Tipp, the Arrows won all three singles matches.

“I knew we matched up well with Tipp coming into this match and I felt it was going to be close and it was,” Hubbard said. “Our singles girls really took care of us tonight and were just relentless on the court against three very solid players. This was a win that should provide us some confidence moving forward into the second half of the season.”

Ashlyn Hubbard (PS) beat Amelia Zweizig (T) 6-3, 6-1. Reek (PS) won over Dakota Schroeder (T) 6-3, 6-4 and Bulach (PS) defeated Sophia McDowell (T) 7-5, 6-1.

In doubles play, Jordan Jones/Claire Wint (T) beat Jane Feck/Lauren Smith (PS) 6-0, 7-5 and Annie Livesay/Tasha Bruner (T) defeated Zoey Collins/Shay Neal (PS) 7-5, 6-0.
