EATON — During the past two weeks, Eaton’s volleyball team has fallen on hard times, but a win in the final match of the O.I.O Bath Invitational could give the team some much needed confidence.
After starting the season 4-0, the Eagles have dropped seven of their past nine matches.
During that stretch, Eaton’s league record has fallen below the .500 mark
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, Eaton fell to visiting Monroe on four sets, 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 25-14. On Thursday, Sept. 7, the Eagles were swept by Oakwood 25-12, 25-20, 25-20.
Eaton closed out that week with a straight set loss at Roger Bacon 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 to even its record at 4-4.
Last week, the Eagles beat Brookville 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-17 to snap a four match losing skid on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
On Thursday, Eaton lost at Hamilton Ross in four sets 25-19, 24-26, 25-21, 25-15.
On Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Lima Bath for O.I.O Bath Invitational where they went 1-2.
In each of the matches, Eaton won the first set, but in the first two matches, lost both the second and third sets.
Eaton opened with a 23-25, 25-18, 25-21 loss to Toledo Whitmer and followed up with a 15-25, 25-14, 26-24 loss to Bath.
In the final match of the day, Eaton defeated Old Fort 25-23, 26-24.
The Eagles (6-7, 2-3 SWBL Southwestern) were scheduled to play Valley View on Tuesday and will travel to Monroe on Thursday.
