Preble Shawnee’s football team downs Dixie in a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division game

NEW LEBANON — Preble Shawnee’s football team improved to 5-2 with a 20-7 win over host Dixie on Friday, Oct. 6, in a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division game.

The Arrows, which lost to Carlisle last week 34-7, rushed for over 300 yards against the Greyhounds.

Senior Eli Gibson lead the Shawnee attack rushing for 286 yards on 31 carries and two touchdowns. Gibson has rushed for 1,271 yards and scored nine touchdowns so far this season and has eclipsed the 200-yard mark in four of the Arrows seven games.

Senior Luke Lovely had 36 yards and seven carries.

Sophomore quarterback Jake Green completed 6-of-9 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Freshman Bryce Singleton caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Arrows forced three turnovers. Austin Moore led the Arrows with 11 tackles. Lovely added nine, as did Jordan Stubbs and Michael Bridgeford.

Dixie scored first to take a 7-0 lead on a 20-yard pass from Devin Worley to Dakota Grise in the first quarter.

Gibson followed with his first score of the night on a 5-yard run to make it 7-7 after a successful point after try.

Shawnee grabbed the lead for good in the second quarter when Green and Singleton connected on a 34-yard TD pass to make it 13-7.

Gibson closed out the scored with a 63-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Shawnee, which ranked 12th in the OHSAA computer rankings last week, will be home for its final three games of the season.

The Arrows, 2-2 in the SWBL, will host Waynesville on Friday, Oct. 13.
