NEW PARIS — The National Trail girls’ soccer team hosted and battled county and league rival Twin Valley South on Thursday, Sept. 24. They fell 3-1 to the Panthers who are currently undefeated in league play.
The Blazers were tied with the Panthers 1-1 at halftime but two second-half goals by South senior Victoria Denlinger ended up giving TVS the 3-1 win.
Head coach Lisa McCloskey said her team is improving. “My girls need to understand it’s a process,” she said. “South is a good team who has played together for a while and we battled them tonight. We need to keep getting better like we are doing.”
The team had its best offensive showing of the season earlier in the week when it traveled to Union County (Indiana) on Tuesday, Sept 22.
Despite scoring two goals, the Blazers fell 5-2 to the out-of-state team. Ray was able to find the net against Union County and Kristen Otherson also scored in the game.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, the team traveled to Miami Valley and held them to a single goal, but National Trail was unable to find any offense and fell 1-0.
The team travels to Middletown Madison on Saturday, Oct. 3.
