ANSONIA — National Trail’s girls’ basketball team couldn’t overcome a 21-point halftime deficit at Ansonia and suffered its third straight defeat, 54-41, on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Blazers fell behind 12-4 after the first quarter and were down 31-10 at the break.

By the end of third quarter, Trail trimmed its deficit to 44-29 and outscored the host 12-10 in the final quarter.

“Our girls came out flat, but fought back in the second half. It was just a case of to little to late,” Trail coach Michael Paige said.

Trail (5-8, 2-6 CCC) was scheduled to host Preble Shawnee on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and will host Bethel on Thursday.
