Twin Valley South’s Nate Osborn ends tournament run at district meet

MIDDLETOWN — Twin Valley South freshman Nate Osborn saw his big year come to an end during the district tournament held at Weatherwax Golf Course of Thursday, Oct. 8.

Osborn finished tied for 15th overall on the day, shooting an 83. The top two qualifying individuals –who shot a 73 and 76 – moved on to the state tournament. He shot a 40 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine.

“Obviously, we were disappointed that Nathan didn’t advance to the state match,” said South head coach Darcy Robinson. “The greens were super hard, which didn’t bode well for a finesse player like him.”

Osborn was the only freshman that entered the Division III tournament as an individual.

“I am so proud of everything he achieved this year,” said Osborn. “He turned to me at one point late in the match and said, with that magical grin of his, ‘Next year is gonna be even better!’”

The future is looking bright for the young golf star, as he ended his year as the Cross County Conference Player of the Year and district qualifier.
