Eagles felled by Indians

CARLISLE — The Eaton football team saw its losing streak grow to four games as the team fell to Carlisle, 24-14, on Friday, Oct 21.

This was another game where we had some missed opportunities that could have been the difference in the ball game,” head coach Brad Davis said. “We had a few drops in the passing game, some missed assignments in all three phases of the game, some missed tackles, a few penalties that hurt us. We’re not playing consistently well enough to close out games and win.”

The Eagles entered the fourth quarter tied at a score of 14-14 but Carlisle scored 10 points in the final frame to knock off the visiting Eagles.

The game was a defensive showdown as the teams combined for just over 450 yards offense.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, Carlisle still doubled their production, amassing 300 yards of offense compared to just 152 for the Eagles.

Lew Bowser was 11 for 20 with 152 yards and a one touchdown on a pass to Tyrell David who had two catches for 66 yards.

Bowser also ran 10 times for 42 yards for the Eagles who were unable to get anything going rushing the ball. The team combined for 68 yards on 18 attempts.

This week Eaton takes on rival Valley View who has lost its last five games as the two bottom dwellers in the SWBL southwestern face off in a traditional rivalry game.

“It is our seniors’ last game,” Davis said. “It’s their last opportunity to put on the purple and gold and play for Eaton High School. They’re going to have to handle the emotions that come with that. We’ll stress to them that they need to ‘empty their tanks’ on Friday.”

The Eagles are now 2-7 (1-4 in the SWBL) and play Valley View (4-5, 0-5 SWBL) on Friday Oct. 30.
