TROY — Three Preble County runners from Division III – Madison Wright and Megan Wright from Twin Valley South and Evan Byrd from National Trail – made the trip to Troy High School on Saturday, Oct. 31, for a chance at advancing to the state race next weekend.

Madison Wright qualified for the state championship with a third place finish, clocking a time of 19:27. She was only 37 seconds behind the first place finisher, Chloe Flora, from Botkins.

“I think I ran well. It wasn’t my best time but when you put in the wind and the hills, it was a good time overall,” said Wright.

Wright is slated to run at National Trail Speedway in Hebron on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. She is a junior and this will be her second straight trip to the state level.

“It feels good,” said Wright. “I ran (National Trail Raceway) my first race of the season and I’m looking to improve that time.”

Megan Wright also ran a solid race but was unable to crack the top 16, running a time of 20:24 to finish 22nd overall. She missed qualifying by a mere 12 seconds.

Byrd from Trail finished her season with a good race, running a time of 21:57 for 64th overall.

Megan Wright finishes her season by earning first team All-Cross County Conference and 18th overall in the district championship. Byrd finished 16th overall in the conference race and 28th at districts.
