Girls Soccer

There were several area girls named to the All-Cross County Conference soccer team, with both Twin Valley South and Tri-County North posting nearly record-setting seasons.

Hailey Thies was named the Player of the Year in the conference, helping North to a 10-5-1 record (including a 3-3 record in the CCC). Thies posted monster numbers on the offensive end this season and was greatly helped out by teammate Megan Hemp, who also made first team honors.

South had three players nominated to the first team as the team finished 10-3-3 in the regular season. They also went 3-1-2 in the conference, tying league champion Miami East for the Vikings only non-win in the conference.

The Panthers had Abby Creech, Victoria Denlinger, and Morgan Newhart all get the honor for the excellent contributions on the historic year.

National Trail did not have a glorious year, losing all but one game to go 0-15-1. They also lost all six conference matchups. But Ruth Wellman remained a consistent cornerstone of the Blazers team and kept them competitive. For her outstanding play, she was also given a first team nod.

Three county players also received special mention, with Kate Othersen from Trail, Chelsey Strawser from North, and Sophie Cottinghim from South all receiving the honor.

Rounding out the rest of the all-conference selection were Sophie McCloskey from Trail, Jessica Koker from North, and Kas Whaley from South – all three received an honorable mention bid.

Boys Soccer

It was not a glamour year on the soccer field for the boys soccer teams in Preble County. The three schools that competed in the Cross County Conference combined for three conference wins and nine total victories on the season.

But despite the three schools finishing in the last three spots of the CCC, there was still some excellent talent displayed on the field this season.

Tyler Browning from National Trail, Travis Rees from Tri-County North and both Jacob and Ethan Wells from Twin Valley South all had solid play and all earned first team all-conference nominations.

Trails Jordon Clark, North’s Ethan Cooley, and South’s Aaron McKee also turned some heads as they helped their teams remain in games and competitive throughout their conference play. Those three played well enough to earn a special mention nomination as well.

Receiving honorable mention nods were Jon Paul Foster from Trail, Tyler, Gray from North, and Jacob Huddleson from South.
