ANSONIA — Twin Valley South’s boys’ basketball team ran its winning streak to four games and moved into sole possession of first place in the Cross County Conference with a 48-37 win at Ansonia on Friday, Jan, 11.

Even on a night where the Panthers didn’t shoot very well (18-of-50) the Panthers proved they are a team to be reckoned with.

Senior Willie Bowman led the Panthers with 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and nine rebounds. He also added four assists.

Junior Cole Peterson scored 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.

Senior Nate Osborn tossed in seven points, while dishing out five assists and pulling down four rebounds.

Senior Jayden Bassler had seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.

South led by three after the first quarter, 9-6, and made the lead stand for the rest of the game. The Panthers extended their lead to 25-15 by halftime and 37-26 after three quarters.

With the win, South improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the CCC. Bethel, National Trail and Miami East all sit 4-2 in the conference.

The Panthers have a busy week scheduled.

They were scheduled to play at Dayton Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 15, before hosting Tri-Village on Friday and Brookville on Saturday.
