Blazers winning streak at 4

NEW PARIS — National Trail’s softball picked up another conference win defeating Covington 6-1 on Thursday, April 18.

The Blazers, who have won four straight games, were led offensively by freshman Skyler Ward.

Ward hit her first career home run putting the Blazers up 2-0 in third inning.

Kayleigh Minner 2-for-2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Savanna Abner went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored and Makena Laird was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Trail added a third run in the third for a 3-0 lead. Covington cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in fourth. In the fifth, Trail added another run for a 4-1 lead. The Blazers closed out the scoring with a pair of runs in the sixth.

For the game, Trail finished with nine hits.

Davlyn Werner picked up her fourth win of the season throwing another complete game.

The Lady Blazers are now 11-2 for the season and 6-1 in the CCC.

On Tuesday, Trail rolled to a 12-1 win over Bethel.

The Blazers were led offensively by Makena Laird, who went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and 3 runs scored.

Madison Hathaway was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Davlyn Werner went 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s and Skyler Ward was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored.

Trail grabbed the lead with a run in the second and scored four more in the thrid for a 5-0 lead. The Blazers made it a 12-0 game with a seven-run outburst in the fifth inning. Bethel scored its lone run in the fifth.

In the circle, Madison Hathaway picked up her fourth win of the season in five tries pitching a complete game.

Trail (11-2, 6-1 CCC) was scheduled to play Miami East on Tuesday, April 23 and will travel to Eaton on Friday.
