WEST ALEXANDRIA — Eaton’s boys and girls track team claimed county titles at the 37th consecutive Preble County Meet on Tuesday, April 23.

The meet was held at Twin Valley South High School.

The Eaton girls team won 13 of 17 events to run away from the rest of the field. The Eagles tallied 184 points. Twin Valley South was second with 82.5. Preble Shawnee was third with 51. Tri-County North was fourth with 21.5 and National Trail was fifth with 11.

On the boys side, Eaton overcame Twin Valley South’s dominance in the field events to win the county title with 140 points. South, which won four field events, finished with 120. Preble Shawnee was third with 37. Tri-County North was fourth with 33 and National Trail placed fifth with 22.

Overall, Eaton’s boys won 11 events.

Eaton’s Brooke Caplinger win the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.

In the pole vault, Tri-County North’s Madison Cox cleared 8-6 for the win.

In the long jump, Twin Valley South’s Madison Johnson soared 15-6 for first place.

Eaton’s Mallory Deaton had a throw of 105-7 to win the discus.

In the shot, Abby Elam, of Preble Shawnee had a toss of 31 feet to win the shot put.

In the 4×800 relay, Eaton’s team of Cari Metz, Caplinger, Brianna Baker and Sophia Murphy won in 11 minutes, 41.77 seconds.

Tyler Pittman of Eaton won the 100 in 13.28 seconds.

In the 4×200, Kendall Combs, Kylee Kidwell, Gabriel Petry and Pittman of Eaton won in 1:53.78.

In the 1,600, Caplinger claimed her second individual county title with a time of 6:15.

In the 4×100, Eaton’s quartet of Amyah Thacker, Combs, Kidwell and Pittman won in 53.93.

In the 400, Eaton’s Combs won in 1:06.63.

In the 300 hurdles, Kidwell grabbed first with a time of 52.67.

In the 800, Metz won the in 2:43.22.

Petry won the 200 with a time of 28.28.

Twin Valley South’s Zoe Utsinger won the 3,200 in 12:40.07, besting the field by more than two minutes.

In the 4×400, Eaton’s team of Jenna Aukerman, Petry, Bella Hurd and Combs cruised to first with a time of 4:41.83.

In the 100 hurdles, Eaton’s Kidwell won in 17.44.

Twin Valley South’s Jayden Bassler cleared 6-2 to win the high jump.

Kyle Saul of Twin Valley South soared 12-2 to win the pole vault.

Willie Bowman jumped 19-8 to win the long jump.

Twin Valley South’s Logan Cook had a throw of 121 to win the discus.

Eaton’s Clayton Kiracofe had a toss of 40-2 to win the shot.

In the 4×800 relay, Eaton’s Todd Coates, Alex McCarty, Garrett Sanders and LeKendric Brown won in 9:02.89.

Eaton’s Tyler Gregory won the 100 in 11.47 seconds.

Eaton’s team of Mac Harper, Dylan Jackson, Logan Cottle and Dylan Suding won the 4×200 in 1:36.53.

Eaton’s McCarty won the 1,600 with a time of 4:50.43.

In the 4×100, Eaton’s Suding, Jackson, Cottle and Gregory won with time of 46.23.

In the 400, Suding claimed the county title with a time of 52.95.

Tri-County North’s Mason Dreischarf won the 300 hurdles in 44.45.

Eaton’s Newport won the 800 in 2:09.47.

Gregory claimed the 200 title with a time of 23.81.

In the 3,200, McCarty cruised to a 10-second margin of victory with a time of 10:36.51.

In the 4×400, Eaton’s quarter of Gregory, KeAnthony Bales, Jackson and Suding took first in 3:40.25.

In the 110 hurdles, North’s Dreischarf won in 16.47.

Eaton and Preble Shawnee will next compete at the SWBL Championships at Oakwood’s Lane Stadium on Thursday, May 9 and Saturday, May 11.

National Trail, Tri-County North and Twin Valley South was scheduled to compete at the Clayton Murphy Invitational on Monday, May 6, at Tri-Village.

Twin Valley South will host the Cross County Conference Championships on Wednesday, May 8 and Friday, May 10.
