NEW PARIS — National Trail’s softball team dropped a pair of games last week, falling to league and county rival Tri-County North and Middletown Madison.

Trail began the week with an 11-3 home loss Madison on Monday, April 29.

The Blazers were led offensively by Skyler Ward, who went 2-for-2. Makena Laird was 1-for-2 with a triple and Bobbi Grimes added a double and 2 RBI, while Savanna Abner contributed a double and an RBI.

The Blazers used four pitchers. Madison Hathaway started and was followed by Ward, Molly Skinner and Davlyn Werner.

The Mohawks scored twice in the first to take a 2-0 lead. Trail responded with three runs in the bottom of the first for its only runs of the game.

Madison added a run in the third, two in the fourth and six in the sixth.

Against North, the Blazers fell behind 4-0 in the third and suffered a 5-2 loss.

Trail scored twice in the sixth for its only runs.

The Blazers were led offensively by Ward, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Jenna Petitt, who was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Werner pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking two.

The Blazers are now 12-5 overall and 8-3 in the CCC.

They were scheduled to play Twin Valley South on Monday, May 6.

Trail will open sectional tournament play on Thursday, May 9 against Cedarville. The game will be played a National Trail. There is a $5 admission fee for tournament games.
