Trail sweeps CCC top honors

PREBLE COUNTY — After wining its first outright Cross County Conference title in more than two decades, National Trail’s baseball team landed six players, including four first-team selections, on the all-conference team.

Tri-County North, which tied for second, had five players honored, while Twin Valley South had three players recognized.

For Trail, which won a Division III sectional championship and reached the district final, Cameron Harrison was tabbed as the CCC Player of the Year and coach Tyler Luce was voted as Coach of the Year.

Joining Harrison on the first team are Travis Hunt, Austin Knapp and Peyton Lane. Hunter Michael was a second team pick and Hunter Lindsey earned special mention.

For North, which won a Division IV sectional championship and reached the district final, Dylan Curtin and Collin Whipp were first-team picks. Matthew O’Dell and Casey Whipp earn second-team honors and Phillip Lockwood was a special mention selection.

For South, Buddy Henderson earned first-team honors. Josh Wysong was a second-team pick and Cade Cottingim earned special mention.

Other fist-team picks were Wade Meeks (Arcanum), Logan Statsney (Arcanum), Gavin Trevino (Bradford), Trentin Alexander (Covington), Blake Sease (Franklin-Monroe), Ian Gengler (Miami East), Trent Collins (Mississinawa Valley) and Ryan Mollette (Newton).

Earning second-team honors were Andrew Rowland (Ansonia), Evan Atchley (Arcanum), Dylan Williams (Bethel), Gavin McReynolds (Covington), Brendan Holser (Franklin-Monroe), Andy Wargo (Miami East), Alex Hayes (Miami East), Zac Longfellow (Mississinawa Valley), Cameron Caldwell (Newton), Nate Zeilinski (Newton) and Gage Hileman (Tri-Village).

Special mention honors went to Jacob Longenecker (Ansonia), Lane Byrne (Arcanum), Layne McClure (Bethel), Fisher Spencer (Bradford), Jakob Hamilton (Covington), Jarin Young (Franklin-Monroe), Tyler Kirby (Miami East), Kyler Guillozet (Mississinawa Valley), Charlie Walker (Newton) and Dylan Finkbine (Tri-Village).
