Boys soccer sectional tournament set to begin next week

PREBLE COUNTY — The county’s four boys soccer teams learned their postseason paths this past Sunday (Oct. 6) with the sectional tournament draw.

This week is the final week of the regular season and tournament play begins next week.

Eaton (1-9-3) is the No. 11 seed in the Division II Central sectional and will travel to No. 3 seed Waynesville on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The winner will play either No. 4 Ross or No. 13 Ponitz in the sectional final on Saturday, Oct. 19. The district semi-final is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Eaton will wrap up regular season play with games against Monroe on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and a home match against Miami Valley on Thursday.

Monroe is the No. 1 seed. Alter is the No. 2 seed.

In Division III, Preble Shawnee, Tri-County North and Twin Valley South will all compete in the North 3 and North 4 sectionals.

North (1-10-1), the No. 24 seed, will play at No. 3 Bethel (12-2) on Oct. 15 in the first round in the North 3 sectional. The winner will play No. 19 Franklin-Monroe in the sectional final on Oct. 19.

TCN was scheduled to wrap up regular season play on Tuesday at Newton.

Preble Shawnee (8-8) will travel to Dayton Christian (7-7-1), the No. 7 seed, also on Oct. 15. The winner will play either No. 5 West Liberty-Salem or No. 25 Emmanuel Christian in the sectional final on Oct. 19.

The district semi-final will be played on Oct. 22.

Shawnee has concluded its regular season.

In the North 4 sectional, South (7-5-1), the No. 15 seed, will visit No. 9 Brookville (6-8-1) on Oct. 15. The winner advances to play No. 12 Newton on Oct. 19. The district semi-final is set for Oct. 22.

South was scheduled to concluded it regular season this week with a game against Franklin-Monroe on Tuesday and a home contest with Stivers on Thursday.

All games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
