EATON — The Eaton boys basketball team is on a four-game skid, losing twice last week to Edgewood and Monroe.

The Eagles started the week off on the road at Edgewood, falling 63-51 in non-conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

In the first quarter, they were outscored 16-11, taking the five point deficit into the second. Heading into the half, the Eagles were unable to make headway though, getting outscored 15-12 in that frame and heading into the break down by eight points.

Out of the half, Eaton closed slightly on the lead, bringing the deficit to seven as they outscored Edgewood 14-13 in the third.

The comeback fell short however, and Eaton lost their third in a row.

They were led by Trevor Pittman who scored 16 points and seven rebounds while Jason Sneed added 11 points. Trey Smith had nine points and eight rebounds and Daniel Howard had eight points and eight boards. Lew Bowser also chipped in seven points on the night.

Eaton then focused their efforts to a red-hot Monroe team that Eaton beat earlier in the season for their first league win.

It was not a repeat performance for the Eagles, who were downed 69-41 at Monroe on Friday, Jan. 22.

They started out slow against Monroe, only posting six points in the first frame and headed into the second down 17-6. The Hornets continued to distance the lead, outscoring Eaton 21-14 in the second and took an 18 point lead into halftime.

The Eagles cut the lead to 14 after the third but it was too little, too late as Monroe rallied in the fourth, posting 22 points to Eaton’s eight.

Sneed lead Eaton with eight points while Howard and Pittman both posted six. Howard also had five rebounds. Tyler Springmier chipped in five points as Lew Bowser, Ronnie Lindsey, and Smith all had four apiece.

Eaton has two more road games this week, as they were scheduled to travel to Oakwood on Tuesday, Jan. 26 and will take on Brookville on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7:15 p.m.
