South falls to Miami East, National Trail

WEST ALEXANDRIA – Playing short-handed, Twin Valley South’s boys’ basketball team dropped a pair of Cross County Conference games this past weekend.

Without the services of point guard Brayden Marker, South fell to visiting Miami East, 60-47, on Friday, Dec. 20 and dropped a 46-17 contest to visiting National Trail on Saturday.

Against East, Cole Petersen led the Panthers with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Michael Crews added 11 points and three assists and Aaron Clark had eight assists.

South held an 18-11 after the first quarter and was up 27-26 at the break.

The Vikings, though, grabbed the lead for good on the third, outscoring the Panthers 19-6 for a 45-35 lead.

Twin Valley South will play at the Preble Shawnee Holiday Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28.

The Panthers will meet the host Arrows in the first round on Dec. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tri-County North and Oakwood will play in the opener at 6 p.m. Junior varsity games will feature the same match-ups and will tip at 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.

Saturday’s games are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. for the varsity contests. The junior varsity games are set for 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
