LEWISBURG — The Tri-County North boys basketball team dropped two games this week, falling to both Mississinawa Valley and Franklin Monroe.

They opened up the week playing host to Mississinawa on Tuesday, Jan. 26, losing to the sharp-shooting Blackhawks 65-37.

Mississinawa scored 26 points in the first quarter, heading into the second with a 13 point lead already. They cooled off in the second but still headed into halftime up 37-25.

The Panthers only mustered 12 total points in the second half though, and were unable to make any headway on the lead.

Kurt Brinson led the way for North, posting 10 points and five rebounds while Garrett Woodyard added nine. Zach Edgin finished with eight points and four assists as Gabe Brinson chipped in seven.

North then focused their effort on Franklin Monroe, falling just 10 points short of their second conference victory on the year.

After the first quarter, the Panthers trailed 18-11 while heading into the break down 31-23.

In the second half, North battled back, cutting the lead down to three points midway through the fourth.

“I was proud of our effort and the way we competed with our defensive intensity, especially in the final quarter,” said head coach Dale Spitler.

Edgin led the Panthers with 10 points and eight assists while Kurt Brinson posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Garrett Woodyard also added 12 points.

North will host Bradford on Friday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. and Trail on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. as well.
