WEST ALEXANDRIA — Preble Shawnee’s boys and girls varsity basketball teams pulled off a sweep of host Twin Valley South on Saturday, Jan. 25.
In the opener, Shawnee girls grabbed a big lead early and gradually extended it for a 54-41 win.
The win snapped a two-game skid for the Arrows, who are now 8-11 overall.
Freshman Liv Thompson led all scorers with 18 points, 13 in the first half as Shawnee grabbed a 28-19 halftime lead.
Senior Cami Hollon added 10 points, while senior Abby Elam and freshman Campbell Jewell each scored nine.
For South (5-13), junior Mackenzie Neal scored 13 points, while junior Taylor Clark tossed in 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. senior Taylor Bowers added eight.
Shawnee is scheduled to play at Northridge on Saturday, Feb. 1.
South was scheduled to host Stivers on Tuesday, Jan. 28 and Tri-Village on Thursday.
In the boys game, Bryce Singleton scored a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Arrows to a 50-32 win. Singleton scored 14 of his points in the second half. Senior Sam Agee added 11 and Dylan Hatmaker tossed in eight, all in the first quarter to help Shawnee to a 15-9 lead.
The Arrows led 26-16 at the half and was up 38-24 after three.
For South, seniors Cole Petersen and Ryan DeLong each scored nine, while pulling down four and five rebounds respectively. Junior Levi Gearhart added six points.
South (2-15, 1-7 CCC), also lost to Newton last weekend, 60-56.
South is scheduled to play at Mississinawa Valley on Friday, Jan. 31 and will host Franklin-Monroe on Saturday.
Shawnee (10-7, 6-3 SWBL), beat Carlisle on Friday, 63-56.
The Arrows are scheduled to play at Milton-Union on Friday.
