PREBLE COUNTY — Overall, Preble County’s three Cross County Conference girls basketball teams combined for 10 total wins – including five in the CCC. But all three also host very young rosters, and there was still a lot of good basketball played by area teams.

Recently, the CCC released its All-Conference roster and four players from the county were represented on the list.

Heading the list was National Trail’s JaLynn Byrd, who earned second team honors for the school. The Blazers 4-8 in the conference and Byrd played every position on the court during that stretch. On the season, she averaged 7.8 points, three rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

Three players, Payten Laird (Trail), Cassi Stinson (Tri-County North), and Mylan Crews (Twin Valley South, all earned special mentions as well.

Laird was the leading scorer for Trail, averaging over eight points per game. She was also the team’s leading rebounder and three-point shooter.

North’s Stinson was also a leading scorer for her team, running point for the Panthers all season. She averaged 10.7 points per game, seven rebounds, and 2.2 steals. Stinson shot 43 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Crews was the leading scorer for South and also ran the point for the Panthers.
