South baseball, softball drop contests to Arcanum

ARCANUM –Twin Valley South’s baseball team fell to Arcanum 7-0 in Cross County Conference play on Tuesday, March 29.

Arcanum scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second and one in the fourth while shutting out South. The Trojans had eight hits and no errors, and the Panthers had five hits and five errors.

Conner Pohl was the winning pitcher for Arcanum. He also led the Trojan offense by going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Hunter Saunders went 3-for-3 with a double.

Arcanum is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the CCC.

South falls to 0-1 in the CCC and 1-2 overall. The Panthers are scheduled to travel to Preble Shawnee for a double-header Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.

In softball, Arcanum’s Abbie Bruns pitched a no-hitter as the Lady Trojans run ruled Twin Valley South 13-0 in five innings Tuesday.

Bruns had seven strikeouts in the Cross County Conference softball game.

Mackenzie Sharitts went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Abby Ross went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Lady Trojans, who are 3-1 on the season, play at home on Thursday against Versailles.

The loss was the first of the season for South, now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the CCC.

South is scheduled to visit Preble Shawnee Saturday for a double-header. Game one is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
