South, North pick up wins

EATON AND NEW PARIS — Twin Valley South overcame a 12-point first half deficit to knock off Eaton, 54-53, in the season opener for both teams on Friday, Nov. 26.

Grant Ulrich led the Panthers with 21 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Jandon Ankrom added 11 points, five coming in the fourth quarter, and seven rebounds and four steals.

Cole McNinch added eight points and had four rebounds.

For Eaton, Brady Davis led the way with 14 points, including knocking down a trio of 3-pointers.

Ramy Ahmed added nine and Chris Atkins contributed eight.

Eaton held leads of 14-12, 34-26 and 46-40 after the first three quarters, but was outscored 14-7 over the final eight minutes.

On Saturday, South rolled over The Miami Valley School, 70-29.

Jace Thuma led the way with 14 points and three assists. McNinch added 12 points and Seth Vorhis contributed 11 points. Lucas Sievering chipped in with six points and six rebounds.

South (2-0) is scheduled to host Newton on Friday, Dec. 3.

Eaton (0-1) was scheduled to play at Frnklin on Tuesday, Nov. 30 and at Bellbrook on Friday, Dec. 3.

North holds off Trail

Tri-County North jumped out to 10-0 lead then held off a rally by National Trail to claim a 56-47 win in the season-opener for both teams.

Jon Shirley led the Panthers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Luke Eby added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Hunter Gray contributed 11 points and Logan Flory chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

For Trail, Ethan Murphy scored 15 points and had four rebounds. Micheal Leal added 14 points and four assists. Wyatt House contributed nine points.

North led 12-4 after the first quarter and 29-20 at the half.

Trail closed to with 44-41 after three and tied the game at 44-44 early in the fourth before the Panthers pulled away.

On Saturday, Leal scored a career-high 28 points and had five assists to lead the Blazers to a 58-41 win over New Miami. Lane Koehl added 12 points and nine rebounds. House tossed in 13 points and added four rebounds and three assists.

North (1-0) is scheduled to play at Tri-Village on Friday, Dec. 3.

National Trail (1-1) is scheduled to play at Bradford on Friday and will host Northridge on Saturday.
