CAMDEN — National Trail and Preble Shawnee’s softball teams split a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23, with the host Arrows taking the first game and the Blazers winning the second.

The host Arrows took game one, 12-2, in 5-innings, thanks in part to a 10-run third inning.

Shawnee pounded out 15 hits.

Trail’s bats were quiet as the Blazers collected just four hits.

In game two, it was the Blazers who tallied a big inning in securing the win.

After falling behind 8-4 and 10-6, Trail used an eight-run fifth inning to take the lead for good.

Payton Laird pitched all seven innings to get the win for Trail. She struck out three, walked two and allowed 10 hits.

Offensively the bats were wide awake for the second game.

Leading the Blazers was Kayleigh Minner, going 3-for-3 with a double. Gracie Jones went 3-for-5 and Kylee Aldridge went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Alexus Acton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kerestin Nugent had two hits with three RBIs. Bobbie Grimes also added a pair of hits. Laird, Ariel Lee, and Aleah Hunt all added a base hit.
