11 county wrestlers qualify for districts

PREBLE COUNTY — Eleven Preble County wrestlers punched their tickets to the district tournament after placing in the top four of their respective sectionals last weekend.

Eaton, National Trail and Preble Shawnee all have three wrestlers moving on, while Twin Valley South had a pair qualify.

For Eaton, the Eagles were dealing with injuries as the battled at the Division II Graham sectional. The Eagles finished seventh overall with 74 points. Graham was the sectional champion with 352.5 points.

At 113 pounds, Lucas Abner placed second for Eaton.

Danny Caldwell finished third at 165 and Zac Shaffer was fourth at 215.

At the Covington Division III sectional, Preble Shawnee placed fourth as a team with 103 points. National Trail finished 10th with 64. Covington was the team champion with 187.5 points.

Brayeden Doran was the lone county sectional champion winning by pin in 1 minute, 29 seconds in the championship bout at 15 pounds.

Shawnee’s Riley Stevenson took second at 175 pounds.

Nolan Earles placed second for Shawnee at 120 pounds to move on.

National Trail’s Caleb Reynolds finished second at 132 pounds. The Blazers Henry Toschlog placed third at 144 pounds and Ethan Wilson placed third at 175.

At the Sidney Lehman Catholic Division III sectional, Twin Valley South was eighth with 44 points. Tri-County North was 12th with six.

For South, Brayden Childers finished fourth at 126 pounds and Brayden Koeller was fourth at 165.

Eaton will compete at the Division II Wilmington District on Friday and Saturday, March 4-5.

National Trail, Preble Shawnee and Twin Valley South all will compete at the Troy Division III district on the same dates.
