No. 3 Panthers, No. 4 Eagles, earn high seeds

PREBLE COUNTY — Tri-County North and Eaton earned the highest seeds of the county’s five softball teams for the upcoming sectional tournaments which are set to begin May 9.

In the seven-team, Division IV Dayton sectional, Tri-County North (8-8) is the No. 3 seed and will host No. 7 Dayton Jefferson (0-4) on Tuesday, May 10. The winner will advance to second round and will play either No. 2 seed Southeastern or No. 6 Springfield Catholic Central on May 12.

Twin Valley South (5-14) is the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Yellow Springs (5-8) on May 10. The winner will advance to play top-seed Franklin-Monroe (10-7) on Thursday.

The sectional final is set for Tuesday, May 17.

In the 17-team, Division II sectional, Eaton (12-7) earned the No. 4 seed and will host No. 14 Carroll (2-14) on Tuesday, May 10, in the Dayton 3 bracket. If the Eagles win, they will host No. 9 Talawanda on Thursday, May 12. The sectional final is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, against either No. 3 seed Monroe or No. 16 Trotwood Madison.

Clinton Massie (18-0) is the top seed and Greenville (14-5) is No. 2. Massie chose to play in the Dayton 2 bracket, while the Green Wave is in the Dayton 1 bracket.

In the Division III Dayton 1 sectional, Preble Shawnee (5-12) is the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 6 Waynesville (10-11) for its first round game on Monday, May 9. The winner will visit No. 4 Brookville (11-6) on May. 11. The sectional final will be played Monday, May 16 at Bishop Fenwick against either No. 2 Carlisle/ No. 12 Dayton Christian or No. 5 Dixie.

In the Division III Northmont 2 sectional, National Trail (12-6) earned the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 Greenon (9-12) on May 9. The winner will travel to Springfield Northeastern, the No. 2 seed, on May 11. The sectional final is scheduled for Monday, May 16, at Northmont High School on Diamond #1 against either No. 3 Springfield Northwestern/No. 12 Miami East/No. 7 Versailles or No. 11 Anna.

All games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. There is a $5 admission price at the gate for all tournament games.
