Trail now 3-0 in WOAC

NEW PARIS — National Trail’s volleyball team remained unbeaten in conference play with a pair of wins last week.

Trail swept county foe Tri-County North 25-7, 25-9, 25-7 on Tuesday, Aug. 30 then beat Bradford 25-11, 25-18, 25-8 to improve to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference.

The Blazers opened the week with a 25-23, 25-14, 25-13 setback against Carroll on Monday, Aug. 29.

Trail had positive contributions from all 10 players in the win over North, according to coach Jackie Barnes.

Leading the way for the team in digs was Kate Neace with 14, Addison Sparks with nine, and Haley Davidson with five.

Leading the team in kills was Sparks with 10, Natalie Osswald with six and Kynzie Everman and Riley Anderson with three apiece. Everman led the team with 18 assists.

The Blazers were tough behind the serving line. At one point in the match, Kynzie Everman rattled off 10 straight points, while Sparks and Davidson each had runs of eight in row. Sparks, Davidson, and Everman led the team in aces with 10, six, and six respectively.

Against Bradford, Sparks led the way with 17 kills and five aces. Anderson added five kills, while Everman led the way with 24 assists, four kills and four aces.

Trail was scheduled to host Emmanuel Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and play at Mississinawa Valley on Thursday, Sept. 8.

North, now 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the WOAC, was scheduled to host Yellow Springs on Sept. 6 and play at rival Twin Valley South on Sept. 8.
