North handles Dixie for 1st win

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North dominated in every phase of the game to earn its first win of the season, a 55-0 thumping of visiting Dixie on Friday, Sept. 9, in a Western Ohio Athletic Conference game.

Afte three frustrating weeks, the Panthers put together its best performance of the season as they dominated in every phase of the game.

North finished the game with 366 total yards with 348 of those coming on the grounds. The Panthers held Dixie to 69 yards of offense.

North left little doubt about the outcome right from the outset.

The Panthers scored 34 points in the first quarter and another 21 in the second quarter. The second half was played with a running clock.

Colten Vanwinkle led the ground attack for North. He finished with 184 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns.

Logan Flory had two carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Vanwinkle opened the scoring with a 49-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead. Flory followed with his first score on a 33-yard run for a 14-0 lead.

Franklin Filbrun scored from a yard out for a 21-0 lead. Flory then connected with Garrett Hutchinson on an 18-yard touchdown pass for a 28-0 lead.

Alex Klingenbarger rounded out the first quarter scoring with a 16-yard TD run to make it a 34-0.

Vanwinkle extended North’s lead to 41-0 early in the second quarter with a 34-yard touchdown run. Flory reached the end zone for the second time moments later with a 54-yard run to make it a 48-0 game.

Vanwinkle rounded out the scoring with a 12-yard run.

North, now 1-3 overall and 1-1 WOAC, is scheduled to travel to Arcanum on Friday, Sept. 16.
