Eaton improves to 6-2 with three wins

EATON — Eaton’s volleyball team bounced back from its first league loss by taking all three of its matches last week.

The Eagles swept Valley View 25-11, 25-19, 25-22 on Wednesday, Sept. 7 then fought off a much-improved Waynesville team on Thursday to win 17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21. Eaton capped off the week with a thrilling come-from-behind win over visiting Fairmont on Saturday 26-28, 27-29, 25-11, 25-14, 15-10.

With the wins, Eaton is now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the SWBL West.

Against Valley View, Olivia Baumann had 19 kills and 11 digs. Ellie Wilson added 12 kills. Bailey Jerdon had 31 assists and 14 digs. Lily Shepherd added five kills, three aces and 10 digs. Paige Pitsinger added 10 digs and Elise Hewitt had 12 digs and two aces.

Against Waynesville, Baumann had 21 kills and 18 digs. Wilson had 11 kills. Jerdon has 40 assists and 13 digs. Hewitt added 23 digs and three aces and Shepherd collected eight kills.

Against Fairmont, Baumann led the way with 19 kills, 19 digs and six aces. Wilson hammered home 17 kills. Daisy Suggs contributed 10 kills. Shepherd had nine kills.

Jerdon finished with 47 assists, 13 digs and nine kills. Pitsinger had 13 digs and Hewitt contributed 16 digs and five aces.

Eaton was scheduled to host Greenville on Monday, Sept. 12 and Madison on Tuesday, Sept. 13. They will close out the week with a trip to Brookville on Thursday, Sept. 15.

A pair of milestones are within reach this week. With one more win, Eaton coach Parker Fields will record his 200th victory and Baumann needs just 26 kills to hit the 1,000 mark for her career.
