LEBANON — Eaton’s volleyball team beat Wilmington in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-18 in a Division II sectional final on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Lebanon High School.
“I thought we entered this match fresh and with a purpose,” Eaton coach Parker Fields said. “We played to win and followed the game plan. We received serve at a 2.04 and that gave Bailey (Jerdon) the opportunity to have her options available offensively.”
Jerdon finished with 36 assists and five digs.
Olivia Baumann had 15 kills and four digs.
Elise Hewitt added 10 digs.
Lily Shepherd had 14 kills and five digs, while Ellie Wilson contributed seven kills.
“We did a nice job of covering their two. big guns defensively and kept them out of being a big factor in serve receive,” Fields said. “Our attack was aggressive, and we served tough. Overall, it was a whole team effort this group should be proud of. Wilmington is a good team, and they are well coached. We were just able to control the match from start to finish, and that has a lot to do with how well we passed the ball.”
Eaton, the No. 3 seed, improved to 18-5 overall and was scheduled to play No. 2 Fenwick in the district semifinal on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Lebanon HS.
