TCN topples Trail, 38-18

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North held National Trail to 17 percent shooting to claim its Western Ohio Athletic Conference opener 38-18 on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at home.

After falling behind 3-2 early, North closed out the first quarter on a 12-1 run to take control of the game.

The Panthers extended their lead to 19-8 at the half despite shooting 2-of-10 from the field in the second quarter.

In third, North held the Blazers scoreless for the final five minutes to take a 30-10 lead, while holding Trail to just 1-of-13 shooting.

Rilee Terry led the Panthers with 13 points, including seven in the first quarter, and 21 rebounds.

Bella Cherry scored 12 and had six assists and five steal, while Hannah Webster added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Overall, North held a 42-27 advantage in rebounds.

For Trail, Natalie Osswald had six points and four rebounds and Ashlynne Osborne scored six and had three assists.

Trail shot just 7-of-41 for the game and committed 21 turnovers.

North shot 17-of-43 from the field.

North, now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the WOAC, was scheduled to host Stivers on Tuesday, Nov. 29 and will travel to Tri-Village on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Trail, now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the WOAC, was scheduled to play at Dayton Christian on Monday, Nov. 28 and will travel to Bradford on Dec. 1, before closing out the week hosting Franklin on Saturday.
