PREBLE COUNTY — Eaton’s boys basketball team picked up its third win in its last four games with a 61-33 win over visiting National Trail on Saturday, Jan. 15.
Ramy Ahmed led the Eagles with 13 points. Grant Miller added 12, making four 3-pointers, and Beau Miller tossed in 10.
Eaton raced out to 17-8 lead after the first quarter as Preston Orr scored all six of his points on the night in the quarter.
In the second, five different players scored for Eaton as they extended the lead to 34-14.
The Eagles pushed their lead to 48-23 after three as Ahmed and Beau Miller combined to scored 12 of Eaton’s 14 points in the quarter.
For Trail, Kellen Laird led the way with 13 points, 10 coming in the second half.
With the win, Eaton is now 6-9 overall, while Trail slipped to 3-11.
For Eaton, the Eagles are 3-2 in January and are coming off a runner-up finish in the Patriot Holiday Classic during the holiday break.
Eaton also owns wins over Valley View 51-51 and Greenville 57-53.
For Trail, the Blazers have now dropped nine straight, including all five games this month.
Eaton will host Monroe on Friday, Jan. 20 and play at Valley View on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Trail will host Ansonia on Friday and play at Valley View on Saturday.
Twin Valley South has dropped three in a row after falling to Arcanum 48-32 on Friday, Jan. 13 and losing to Brookville 51-30 on Saturday.
South is now 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Panthers, who are 1-4 in January will host Dixie on Friday and will travel to Middletown Madison on Saturday.
Tri-County North went 0-3 last week and have now lost eight straight. North dropped to 1-14 overall on the season and 0-7 in the WOAC after losses to Dixie (63-26) on Tuesday, Jan. 10, Newton (64-41) on Friday, Jan. 13 and Emmanuel Christian Academy (60-57) on Saturday.
The Panthers have just one game schedule this week. They are to host Mississinawa Valley on Friday, Jan. 20.
On the girls’ side, Tri-County North picked up its 10th win of the season after going 2-1 last week.
The Panthers have now won two straight after wins over Troy Christian (50-39) on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and Newton (50-36) on Thursday, Jan. 12.
North was scheduled to play Brookville on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and will travel to Mississinawa Valley on Thursday, Jan. 19.
Twin Valley South dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-8 in the WOAC with three losses during the month so far.
South has lost to Mississinawa Valley (83-19), Preble Shawnee 54-20) and Arcanum (63-19).
The Panthers will travel to Dixie on Thursday, Jan. 19 for their only game this week.
National Trail’s struggles continue as the Blazers have gone 0-4 in January to fall to 6-11 overall and 2-6 in the WOAC.
Trail has dropped games to Legacy Christian (41-25), Arcanum (45-28), Tri-Village (64-25) and Dixie (29-25).
The Blazers were scheduled to play Carlisle on Tuesday, Jan. 17 and host Ansonia on Thursday, Jan. 19.
