CCC names all-conference teams

EATON- The Cross County Conference recently announced the 2016 baseball and softball conference awards.

National Trail, Tri-County North, and Twin Valley South each had three individuals earn conference awards.

For the NT Blazers, Michael Bane was named first team, Billy Lanman was second team, while Dominique Huffman earned special mention.

North’s baseball team saw Zach Edgin, Chandler Sproles, and Tanner Booth earn first team, second team and special mention honors respectively.

Finally, TVS was represented by Jacob Bassler with first team honors, Ryan Bassler with second team, and Cody Roell receiving special mention.

Arcanum took Coach of the Year and Player of the Year awards in Randy Baker and Conner Pohl respectively. Others receiving first team selections were: Austin Baker and Pohl of Arcanum, Tyler Brookhart of Bethel, Nathan Blei and James Grilliot of Covington, Zach Hyre of Franklin Monroe, Braxton Donaldson of Miami East, Rhett Gipe of Newton, and Jonny Wilson of Tri-Village.

The second team awardees were: Dane Wentworth of Ansonia, Cole Burrell and Jordan Dubbs of Arcanum, Mason Justice of Bradford, Jared Williams of Covington, Cade McGlinch of Franklin Monroe, Tyler Jenkinson of Mississinawa Valley, Treg Jackson of Newton, and tanner Maples of Tri-Village. Receiving Special Mention were: Logan Miller of Ansonia, Nathan Kubik of Arcanum, Riley Shafer of Bethel, Andrew Branson of Bradford, Levi Winn of Covington, Trevor Collins of Franklin Monroe, Scot Kirby of Miami East, Devan Rinderle of Mississinawa Valley, Wade Ferrell of Newton, and Christian Ricker of Tri-Village.

In softball, Megan Hemp of Tri-County North was named first team All-CCC. Riley Cruse gained second team, while Taylor Green earned special mention for North. The Blazers also received awards from Alexus Acton and Kylee Aldridge who earned second team. Payten Laird received special mention.

Twin Valley South was represented by Kelsie Shafer, who earned special mention.

Rick Stone of Arcanum was awarded CCC softball Coach of the Year. For Arcanum, Loganne Stone was named Player of the Year. First team honorees were: Brooke Neal of Ansonia, Abbie Bruns and Stone of Arcanum, Grace Anthony of Bethel, Olivia Hart of Bradford, Brooke Gostomsky, Arianna Richards, and Kara Schaffer of Covington, Emilee Morris of Franklin Monroe, and Madison Mollette and Kristen Rappold of Newton. Those were made second team All-CCC were: Molly Walters of Ansonia, Brittany Kinney of Arcanum, Tori Smith of Bradford, Ashley Cecil of Covington, Carrie Baker of Franklin Monroe, Megan Pettit of Miami East, Leslie Dirksen of Mississinawa Valley, Kacie Tackett of Newton, and Shelby Holzapfel of Tri-Village. Earning special mention were: Shelby Hartzell of Ansonia, Kaitlyn Zell of Arcanum, Becky Schwieterman of Bethel, Amanda Brewer of Bradford, Allison Babylon of Covington, Kennedy Morri of Monroe, Kati Runner of Miami East, Paxton Scholl of Misissinawa Valley, Kyee Fisher of Newton, and Payge Malott of Tri-Village.
