WEST ALEXANDRIA — The Twin Valley South girls soccer team pulled off a 4-2 victory over Dixie on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at home.
After allowing the Greyhounds the first goal of the game within the first five minutes, the Lady Panthers responded by outscoring them 4-1 to seal the victory.
TVS had a several scoring opportunities in the first half of the game, out-shooting Dixie on fast-breaks and scrambles close to the net. But the Panthers were unable to capitalize and score until Sydney Vorhis launched a shot past Dixie’s goalkeeper at the 18:05 mark to tie up the game.
About ten minutes later, Abby Robertson scored the first of her three goals in the game to give her team the lead and the Panthers never looked back.
“It was a very good match,” said South coach Dustin Zimmer. “We only had one sub for the entire game. We played extremely well tonight. Robertson scored three goals tonight, that’s awfully good. I told the girls after they scored on us ‘it’s all mental’ and that we need to dig deep and play smart. They played as a team and passed well.”
The Panthers were scheduled to face off against Cross County Conference foe and rival Tri-County North on Thursday, Sept. 8, in Lewisburg.
