EATON — Eaton’s youth and inexperience showed when they hosted Bellbrook in an early season showdown of unbeaten volleyball teams last week .
The host Eagles fell to their Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division counterparts in straight sets 25-17, 25-13, and 25-17, on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Eaton fell to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the SWBL Southwestern Division with the loss. Bellbrook, which entered the contest 3-0, improved to 2-0 in the SWBL Southwestern Division. After three other matches later in the week, Bellbrook is now 6-1 overall.
“Our inexperience and youth showed through against a well-coached Bellbrook team,” Eaton coach Parker Fields said. “We will continue to work toward our team goals of communication, mental toughness and being smart tactical players.”
Senior Emma McKinney paced Eaton with nine assists and three digs. Sophomore Becca Mowen led the team with five kills and four digs. Junior Ariel Richardson added three kills, five digs and three aces. Senior Stacia Weathington contributed three kills and sophomore Maley Tinstman had four digs.
Eaton was scheduled to visit Lemon-Monroe on Tuesday, Sept. 6, before traveling to Oakwood on Thursday. Eaton will conclude the week by hosting Roger Bacon on Saturday.
