WEST MILTON — National Trail’s volleyball team traveled to Milton-Union on Saturday, Sept. 10, for a tri-match, but after a third team failed to attend, the Blazers were left with only the host Bulldogs. Trail lost in three sets, 18-25, 8-25, and 16-25.

Senior Shania Jordan led the Lady Blazers with an attack percentage of .667 percent. Risa Griffin had two aces to lead the team, and also led them in digs.

Coach Joy Yeazel saw improvement in Trail’s loss to M-U. “Our goal for each game is to get better and learn from our mistakes — we are making progress,” she said.

National Trail also lost in three sets to Franklin-Monroe, 9-25, 4-25, and 14-25 on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The Lady Blazers only had two kills in three sets coming from Jordan and Lexi Stiner. Jordan and Abby Sullivan had one ace each. Defensively, Brooke Johnson and Griffin had seven digs each, and Stiner had a solo block and a block assist.

“We have got to work on being volleyball smart and working as one,” Yeazel said. “Lexi Stiner is starting to provide us with some great defense at the net, we need to capitalize on that and try to get our offense jump-started.”

National Trail is now 0-4 in the Cross County Conference, and 1-7 overall on the year. The Lady Blazers were scheduled for a busy week, starting off with home games on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12 and 13, against Carlisle and Bradford respectively. Thursday, Sept. 15, is a road trip to Arcanum.
