TVS falls to Tri-Village, 188-204

NEW MADISON — On Monday, Sept. 19, the Twin Valley South golf team traveled to face off against the Tri-Village Patriots at the Beechwood Golf Course. Unfortunately, for the Panthers, Tri-Village won, 188-204.

“We thought going in, we were two equally-matched teams,” said TVS coach Darcy Robinson. “Both teams came in with a conference record of 5-6. But, they put together four guys who scored in the 40s; that’s tough to beat.”

“On a positive note, Nathan Osborn played superbly, finishing just one-over par with a 37,” Robinson said.

“Interestingly, he only shot par on one hole,” she said of Osborne. “He had a rough start, shooting a double bogey on the first hole, then a bogey on the second hole. A lot of players at that point, tend to bury themselves, mentally. But Nate, more times than not, will dig deeper and finish stronger with each hole. I continue to be amazed with his mental focus in difficult situations, and his tenacity in being physically prepared for every match. For instance, he didn’t play up to his usual standards against Ansonia last Thursday, so he went out over the weekend and practiced for hours. His success on the golf course is not a coincidence.”

Willie Bowman scored the second best individual score with a 46. Chance Parks scored a 57, while Cole Petersen, and Autumn Newdigate scored a 64 and 67 respectively.

“It’s hard to believe that we’re done with our regular season,” said Robinson. “But we’re looking forward to Thursday’s Cross County Conference Tournament Championship, as well as the sectional tournaments coming up next week.”

The conference tournament was held on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Stillwater Valley Golf Course.
