NT bounced by Miami East in three sets

NEW PARIS — The Lady Blazers lost in three straight sets to the six-time Cross County Conference champion Miami East volleyball team, 25-6, 25-11, 25-8, last week.

“The girls played extremely well during sections of each game, but we could not get any sustained offense,” said NT coach Joy Yeazel. “Miami East is a very talented and athletic team — we just did not have the firepower to keep up with them.

Trail only managed to get four kills and two aces against the Lady Vikings. Sophomore Lexi Stiner had two of those kills, and Ariel Lee and Abby Sullivan each had an ace. Defensively, NT played well, with Risa Griffin leading the Blazers with seven digs, while Lee and Stiner both had five digs.

“We have a tough week coming up with Covington on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and Indiana rival Union County on Thursday, Oct. 6. Both are talented teams that are going to challenge us. We need to be ready to respond to the challenge,” Yeazel said.
