BROOKVILLE — The Eaton Lady Eagles soccer team shut out Brookville, 4-0, in a Southwestern Buckeye League road match on Thursday, Sept. 29.

“We showed up ready to play tonight, it was a total team effort,” said Eaton coach Michael Bacher. “The defense was stout, and time and time again we shut down the Brookville offensive attack.”

On the first Eaton goal, senior Mariyah Mckelvin found fellow senior Hallie Wilt on the right side of the Brookville net and chipped her for the first goal. The score remained 1-0 at the half.

In the second half, Mckelvin wasted no time as she pulled the ball back and passed to Jessica Spitler for a goal to make the score to 2-0. Mckelvin did it one more time, for the hat trick of assists — the third time to junior Kate Bulach who, back from injury, drilled a shot for her lone goal of the night.

A fourth goal scored by Eaton locked up the victory at 4-0.

“Sophomore Emily Dungan did her usual, winning balls out of the air, which is huge for us in getting possession,” said Bacher. “Sophomore’s Tyler Pittman and Ashlyn Black had numerous key plays for us.”

Eaton currently holds an SWBL record of 3-6, and is 3-9 overall. The Lady Eagles were scheduled to play on Tuesday, Oct. 4, against non-conference foe Greenville.
