TVS beats NT, 10-0

WEST ALEXANDRIA — The Twin Valley South soccer team defeated Cross County Conference opponent National Trail 10-0 on Thursday, Sept. 29, at home.

“It felt good to get back on track against Trail with a win,” said TVS coach Clay Young. “We had lost a couple games in a row, so it was nice to get back in the winning column. The CCC has been a really competitive conference this year in boys’ soccer, and anyone can beat anyone on any given night. For my team, it really comes down to mental preparation. I feel that if we go into a game mentally prepared and play as a team we can hang with any team in the league. I still think we are continuing to get better. We still have three more league games to play so anything can happen there. Even though the season is starting to dwindle down, we still have a lot that we want to accomplish and we will keep working hard to reach our goals.”

Junior Jacob Wells scored three goals for South, while seniors Daniel Page, Jesse Woods, and Zach Guehring all had two goals apiece. Junior Travis Lovely also scored a goal for the Panthers. Junior Bryant Marker had three assists, along with Aaron Clark, Travis Lovely, and Jacob Wells, who each had one assist.

National Trail was led by Colton Toms, who had two shots on goal, while NT goalkeeper Andrew Willett had 14 saves on goal.

“Twin Valley South has a strong passing team,” said NT coach Mariah Brinley. “We are a young team and still have a lot to learn.”

National Trail had a game against Madison on Saturday canceled, while TVS was scheduled to play on Tuesday, Oct. 4, against Botkins.
