READING — The Twin Valley South volleyball team beat the Bethel Bees on Thursday, Sept. 29, but lost two games in a row on Saturday, Oct. 1, to Reading and Dixie.
The Lady Panthers garnered a three-set victory over Cross County Conference foe Bethel Thursday night, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15. Leading the way for the Panthers was senior Abby Beneke with 18 kills, 14 digs and five assists. Junior Mylan Crews had an ace, three digs, 17 assists and six kills. Sophomore Sidney Mowell charted two aces and 11 service points.
“It is nice to be done in three sets; Bethel is a much improved program since coach Lauren Siebenaller has taken over,” said TVS coach Leslie Roberts.
The Panthers suffered back-to-back losses on Saturday morning. They first dropping a match to the host Reading Blue Devils 25-7, 25-22. In their following match, South lost to the Dixie Greyhounds, 25-17, 25-20.
“The losses this morning are hard to stomach,” said Roberts. “Any other words at this point would be superfluous.”
TVS was scheduled to play at Ansonia on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
South currently holds an 11-6 overall record, and is 6-2 in the CCC standings.
