South volleyball nets two more wins

WEST ALEXANDRIA — The Twin Valley South volleyball team is riding a three-game winning streak toward the end of the regular season. The Lady Panthers won two games earlier this week, beating Brookville on Monday and Tri-Village on Tuesday, Oct. 11, both in three sets.

South beat the Blue Devils 25-15, 25-12, and 25-15.

Leading the way for the Panthers was Abby Beneke with 11 digs, five assists and 12 kills. Emma Fergus chipped in nine kills with three digs. Mylan Crews dished out 27 assists with an ace and three kills. Delaney Adams had three aces, 10 digs and three kills. Audrey Chesney came up big behind the service stripe with four aces, 10 points, six digs, six kills and a solo block.

Junior teammates Abby Bingham charted a dig and three assists, while Samantha Janecek notched an assist, four kills and a solo block. Madison Wright played solid, going 16-of-18 on serve receive with 19 digs. Zoe Utsinger added a kill.

Tuesday’s win against Tri-Village was similar, with the Panthers winning 25-10, 25-15, and 25-13. Beneke once again led the Lady Panthers, having 16 kills 14 digs, five assists, one block, and four aces. Adams had 12 service points, an ace, and 15 digs. Wright was 15-of-18 on serve receive with 28 digs and an assist. Fergus chipped in with a dig and four kills.

Also contributing for the Lady Panthers was Crews, with four digs and 24 assists. Chesney made nine digs, nine kills and a solo block. Janecek and Bingham combined for an assist, a kill and a dig respectively. Sidney Mowell had nine service points, an ace and nine digs. Utsinger charted two digs and three kills.

Twin Valley South was scheduled to play its final regular season game on Thursday night, Oct. 13, at Newton. The Lady Panthers will play on Monday, Oct. 17, in the Arcanum 1 sectional tournament, against Ansonia.
