Volleyball brackets set

PREBLE COUNTY — The postseason for area volleyball teams gets under way this weekend as Preble Shawnee and National Trail are scheduled to serve it up on Saturday in their respective sectional tournaments. The rest of the area teams will begin play next week.

Eaton (13-8) is the No. 5 seed in the Division II Lebanon 2 sectional and will play either No. 4 Valley View (16-4) or No. 9 Stivers (12-9) on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m at Lebanon High School.

Bellbrook (18-2) is the No. 1 seed, followed by Bishop Fenwick (16-5) and Alter (12-7). Alter and Bellbrook are in the upper bracket, while Valley View and Eaton are in the lower bracket with Fenwick.

Talawanda (17-3) earned the No. 15 seed in the Division I Cincinnati 2 sectional to be played at Lakota East. There are 32 teams in the Cincinnati sectional.

The Braves took a bye into the second round and will play the winner of the No. 17 Kings (10-9)/No. 23 Milford (4-15) contest on Thursday, Oct. 7:30 p.m. The top four seeds are No. 1 Ursuline (17-4), Mason (18-1), St. Ursula (15-7) and Turpin (17-2).

In Division III, Preble Shawnee (10-9) is the No. 7 seed at the Brookville 2 sectional and will open tournament play on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. against No. 14 seed Triad (6-12). The contest will be played at Dixie High School.

The top four seeds are No. 1 Miami East (14-5), Versailles (15-5), Waynesville (18-2) and Arcanum (15-4).

Also in Division III, National Trail (4-14) is the No. 16 seed in the Brookville 3 bracket and will play No. 6 Milton-Union on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 3:30 p.m., at Brookville High School.

In Division IV, Twin Valley South (12-7) is the No. 12 seed and will play No. 7 Ansonia (15-3) on Monday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at Arcanum High School in the Arcanum 1 bracket.

Tri-County North (3-13) is the No. 24 seed in the Arcanum bracket and will play either No. 2 Ft. Loramie (13-8) or No. 23 Houston (2-18) on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.

The top four seeds in Division IV are No. 1 Jackson Center (21-0), Ft. Loramie, Southeastern (17-3) and Springfield Catholic Central (16-4).
