EATON — The Preble County Stingrays swimming team will be holding an early sign up on Saturday, May 21, at the Preble County YMCA from 9 a.m. until noon.

There will be a sizing kit to purchase a team swim suit. The first outdoor week of the Stingrays is always a free tryout session to see if young swimmer will enjoy it. For all new parents wanting to join the Stingrays, there will be a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. to answer any questions and to give an overview of the program.

The Preble County Stingrays team is open to any swimmers interested in developing their skills and to have fun doing it. Age groups go from 5 to 18 years old. As long as young swimmers are not afraid of the water and can stand up in the water, they can be of any skill level. This year, the swimming season will run from May 31 to July 16, with six dual meets and two invitational tournaments, ending with the Southern Ohio Swim league Championships.

For any participants involved in school during the first week of the outdoor swim season, there will be a night practice for those children.

There is a $25 registration fee per family, regardless of the number of kids who wish to join. The summer fees are: $80 for one swimmer per family, $110 for two swimmers in a family, $150 for three swimmers, and an additional $15 for each swimmer after three in a family.

David Montgomery is the new head coach of the Stingrays. Practices will be held at 531 West Main Street. The goal is to have 180 or more participants join the Stingrays this season. Anyone with questions may call Montgomery at 937-553-3893 or email at: [email protected].
