Wyatt House, Yuta Sera win this year’s Preble County Geography Bee

WEST ALEXANDRIA — This year’s Geography Bee champions were crowned last week, following the annual contest held Thursday, Feb. 16.

The 19th annual Preble County Geography Bee was held at Twin Valley South, with approximately 20 elementary and middle school students from around the county taking part.

Students participating in the county event were finalists in their building level Geography Bees. Those students included: Yuta Sera, Bruce Elementary; Ramy Ahmed, Bruce Elementary; Ty Crammer, Eaton Middle School; Maddie Haynes, Eaton Middle School; Miranda Ott, National Trail Elementary; Lyla Fudge, National Trail Elementary; Wyatt House, National Trail Middle School; Lane Koehl, National Trail Middle School; Trevor Smith, West Elkton Intermediate;Cooper Roell, West Elkton Intermediate; Victoria Wright, Preble Shawnee Middle School; Bryce Singleton, Preble Shawnee Middle School; Selina Shortes, Tri-County North Elementary; Austin Davis, Tri-County North Elementary; Robbie Quinn, Tri-County North Middle School; Kaimee Knisley, Tri-County North Middle School; Chandler Ulrich, Twin Valley South Elementary; Clara Meyers, Twin Valley South Elementary; Elliana Hurst, Twin Valley South Middle School and Tate Ray, Twin Valley South Middle School.

After the competition, first and second place trophies were given to the following students as all-county Geography Bee winners:

In the fourth and fifth grade division, first place was awarded to Sera, and second place to Davis.

In the sixth-eighth grade division, first place was awarded to House, and second place to Haynes.

Organizers send a special thank you to Twin Valley South for hosting this event, noting their appreciation of the coordination from faculty at all building level Geography Bees. Thank you also goes out to Laura Cottingim and Jody Longman from the Preble County Educational Service Center for assisting with score keeping at the event

The Preble County Geography Bee was coordinated by Daryl Michael and Kathy Erbaugh from the Preble County Educational Service Center, and was sponsored by the Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board.
