North wins CCC outright

LEWISBURG — Tri-County North defeated Twin Valley South 15-1 on Monday, May 8, thanks in part to Bo Hendrickson, who drove in four runs. Hendrickson drove in runs on a single in the second, a double in the fourth, and a single in the fourth.

His big day helped North clinch the Cross County Conference baseball title outright.

North finished CCC play 11-1, a game ahead of runner-ups Newton and Miami East.

South finished league play 6-6 and in a five-way tie for fourth with Tri-Village, Bethel, Bradford and Franklin-Monroe.

After South scored in the top of the first North responded in its half of the inning with a pair of runs and never looked back.

North scored on a single by Tanner Booth and a single by Chandler Sproles in the first inning. North added three more in the second for a 5-1 lead and ended the game with a 10-run fourth.

The big inning was driven by a double from Bo Hendrickson, a double by Sproles, a single by Collin Whipp, a single by Zach Edgin, a single by Booth, a single by Hendrickson, and a double by Sproles.

Sproles earned the win for North. He went five innings, surrendering one run, four hits, striking out five, and walking zero.

North outhit South, 15-4. For North, Hendrickson, Booth, Sproles, Bailey Lairson, and Edgin each collected multiple hits.

Sproles, Booth, and Hendrickson each drove in four runs to lead North.

North opened tournament play on Wednesday, May 10, with a 23-5 win over Emmanuel Christian. North is scheduled to play in the Division IV sectional final on Wednesday, May 17, against No. 9 seed Middletown Christian, who was a 1-0 upset winner over No. 6 Twin Valley South.

The game, scheduled for 5 p.m., will be played at Newton High School
