GASPER TOWNSHIP — Deputies arrested one suspect last week after he confessed to being responsible for a residential burglary in Gasper Township.

Michael Rivers, 35, Eaton, has been charged with one count of burglary, a third-degree felony, and one count of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, in Eaton Municipal Court.

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Preble County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2500 block of Central Road after the homeowner returned home and discovered the residence had been forcibly entered.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, deputies interviewed Rivers, who had “turned himself in” because he wanted to return to prison.

“Rivers admitted that he is addicted to heroin and wants to go back to prison to get himself clean,” Sheriff Mike Simpson said in a press release on Monday, Sept. 28.

Rivers was being held in the Preble County Jail at press time.
