TV Bank donates to South

WEST ALEXANDRIA — Twin Valley Bank made a donation which will cover the cost of two new scoreboards, presenting a check to Twin Valley South’s Athletic Director Tony Augspurger and TV High School Principal Scott Cottingim on Friday, Jan. 15.

One board will be 17 feet long and nine feet high (including a space of three feet for advertisements) while the other board will be 10 feet by six feet in size.

One of the new scoreboards will be able to display players’ numbers, fouls, and points.

“It’s become the norm for most high schools and we’re maybe the last team in the league to get it. So we really appreciate Twin Valley Bank saying that they’d help out with this,” said Augspurger. “I know they are planning to help out in the fall and summer with the football stadium as well, and so it is something that, 20 years ago when the building was built, they were our sole sponsor for scoreboards and they’ve continued to do that. It’s awesome.”

The $21,825 donation will cover the entire cost of the boards, and is a gesture of thanks, said Twin Valley Bank President Brian Shera.

“It’s what we do. We’re a local community bank. One of our goals and virtues is that we want to be able to give back to the community that supports us so well,” said Shera.

The scoreboards have been purchased and the school hopes to have them installed by the end of winter sports season.
